Thank God we encounter in books often beautiful, but very few become real and milestones of your own path. In my history of reader, one of those was''very few''companies Deschooling, Ivan Illich, published for the first time in New York in 1971 (''''Deschooling Society, Harper & Row). The subtitle might be''I'll explain why, rightly, hated school with all of yourself'' .
I would not be able to explain briefly the sensational topics of the legendary Ivan Illich against the school as it is today, it's been too long since I read it, but there's one thing I remember like yesterday, his words moved me, doctor deep wounds in me. Become aware of is maybe a bit 'shocking, but it is impossible to deny: in those places seemingly focused on our right, our soul has been raped. Many of the injuries that have plagued our entire life, is responsible for the school.
Because the school as it is today, is unbearably authoritarian. Rather than a grand temple of knowledge and awareness, it resembles a church, Where are you used to believe the lies that serve as the basis of our civilization. Rather than a permanent laboratory of the free evolution of the person, looks like a factory-Barracks, where are you addicted to a discipline that alienates you from yourself.
It completely changed the school. Point. And one of the bases from which the company is certainly Deschooling''''Ivan Illich, who, after being unavailable for years, has just been reissued by the publisher Mimesis: pp. 156, € 14. Well spent. The pleasure of seeing defeated by getting ideas that fall in love, so the monster that has made us suffer.
PS The post title is the title of the first chapter the book title that shit! I causes an almost physical pleasure ... I do not know how many days I will resist the temptation to re-read the book, now that I have it.
